BS, people buying patriots and other lower end Jeeps subsidize Wranglers and future Wrangler based trucks.

A conversation this pictured spawned:
George: That’s hilarious, but it makes it look like the 2nd car has more ground clearance than the Patriot.
Me: It probably does!
G: No! Who makes it?
Me: Uhhh... I think AMC?
[30 min of reading wikipedia later]
G: I need one of these in my life!
But yeah, I was (apparently) aware these existed, but had no idea they were 4WD and kind of awesome. I mean... I’m sure they’re also terrible, but it can be both.

People who buy Patriots hurt themselves more than anyone. Remember our talk about 2wd Liberties and Nitros? Now they buy Patriots and Compasses. In their wake they leave horrifically unreliable shitboxes that other people will pay too much for used, and get buried in repair bills.
Besides, nothing needs less subsidising than Wranglers. Those things print money for FCA. Wrangler based trucks will be even more so. Imagine how little those will depreciate? It’ll be like driving around cash money.

Okay solid point. I was going along the route of Patriots and the like injecting cash into Chrysler when things were bad. I can’t really say they boost the overall MPGs of the company because they weren’t as good as one would hope.
Wranglers have always done well but sometimes the company still needed something extra.

They’re fundamentally bad, unreliable vehicles.
Which is a shame, because the Patriot is a fairly good looking vehicle.

Which is why my girlfriend doesn’t currently drive on. I like the idea and look but not the execution.
